On pourra ainsi entendre quelques-uns des chefs-d’œuvre de ces aînés qui lui ont valu pas moins de 26 Grammy Awards outre-Atlantique : Bartók, avec la Sonate pour 2 pianos et percussions, Webern, avec les Cinq mouvements op. 5 pour quatuor, Ravel, avec Frontispice, dans une version pour ensemble réalisée par Boulez lui-même. Ils partageront l’affiche avec Luigi Nono – et son éloquent À Pierre. Dell’azzuro silenzio, inquietum à più cori –, qui fut avec Boulez l’un des principaux animateurs de l’avant-garde musicale de l’après guerre. Et puis tous ces plus jeunes qui, sans être véritablement ses disciples, se revendiquent souvent de son héritage, et dont il a été un soutien fervent : les Friedrich Cerha, Gérard Grisey ou Enno Poppe. On entendra également torsion: transparent vision d’Olga Neuwirth, une compositrice dont Pierre Boulez a créé nombre de pièces, et qui lui en a dédié quelques autres. Parmi les plus jeunes, on entendra enfin Scales du regretté Christophe Bertrand, ainsi qu’une création de Benjamin Attahir. Tous deux sont passés par l’Académie du Festival de Lucerne ; leur présence ici illustre le patient travail de pédagogue et de découvreur de talents que fut et que sera toujours Pierre Boulez.

This will hear some of the masterpieces of those seniors who have earned no less than 26 Grammy Awards across the Atlantic: Bartók, with the Sonata for two pianos and percussion, Webern’s Five Movements op. 5 quartet, Ravel, with frontispiece, in a version for ensemble conducted by Boulez himself. They will share the stage with Luigi Nono (In his eloquent and Peter. Dell’azzuro silenzio, inquietum à più cori) which Boulez was with one of the leaders of the avant-garde music of the postwar period. And all these younger which, without being truly his disciples often claim his inheritance, and he was a strong support: Friedrich Cerha, Enno Poppe and Gérard Grisey. We also hear torsion: transparent vision of Olga Neuwirth, a composer Pierre Boulez which created many pieces, and who has dedicated some others. Among younger, we finally hear the late Scales Christophe Bertrand, as well as creating Benjamin Attahir. Both went through the Academy Lucerne Festival; their presence here illustrates the pedagogue patient work and talent scout that was and will always be Pierre Boulez.
