Marco Stroppa’s composition “élet…fogytiglan” is constantly in motion. The seventh part of the work he began creating in 1989 is entitled “Die Mauern”. With the world premiere of the complete work in Cologne, the piece will be finalised – and yet, perhaps not: future performers will be able to choose and combine modules as they see fit.
In 1963 Luciano Berio’s “Passaggio”, a veritable anti-opera, had its premiere at La Scala in Milan. Although the work has no plot in the conventional sense, the monologues of an unnamed woman and the comments of two choruses trace the stations of a Via Crucis: arrest, interrogation, humiliation, torture, finally release and social ostracism.
“Tramespace” – the title Yoshiaki Onishi has chosen for his work combines two French terms into one portmanteau word: “trame” is the weft thread in weaving, while “espace” means “space”.
